THE

DYNASTY KARATE

"CODE OF CONDUCT"

As part of the Traditional Martial Arts training at RPDK, each student is expected to follow a few simple rules and a "Code of Conduct" whenever in the DoJang (training area). As students progress on their traditional martial arts journey, they will find that the "Code" becomes second nature and an integral part of their overall lifestyle.

"CODE OF CONDUCT"

  • Approach each task, exercise technique, kick, punch or block with a positive attitude and a willingness to perfect it;
  • Never compare your ability and/or accomplishments to others. This is your journey! The important thing is that you are better today than you were yesterday;
  • Always remember the spirit of Ta Kwon Do is "Never Give Up!";
  • A true martial artist strives for the following virtues: humility, kindness, patience, physical grace, self discipline, silent and fearless. By developing these traits the student will come to understand themselves and their opponent;
  • A large part of Karate is REPETITION! The mind must train the body to react without thinking. It can take thousands tries to perfect a technique. Without the proper attitude this may become boring to a student. Perform each technique to the best of your ability. Speak with your instructor if  you are having problems and the boredom will pass as you progress.
  • Bowing: The purpose of the bow is to show respect and acknowledgment to the Instructor(s), the training area, a training partner and/or ones opponent. This is part of the Asian philosophy similar to the right hand shake common in this country.
