MEET OUR NEW CHAMPS

A huge RPFS congratulations and thank you to Andy Beil and Matt Breiner for garnering the teams 8th and 9th MMA titles! Andy snagged the “Rock the Cage” 170lb belt on July 30 with a tough fought and well earned decision over a game Cory Slonaker, and Matt picked up the Lehigh Valley Cage Fight Heavyweight crown with a devastating 2nd round KO of a tough Rodney Sigley. Look for both of these guys to turn pro by years end!

THE YOUNG LIONS OF RPFS

The secret to a good fight team is to always have new, talented fighters coming up the ranks behind your superstars to carry on the legacy. Well, at RPFS that’s exactly what we are doing! We introduced three such future stars on July 30, 2012 at the Rock to Cage Tribute to Jim Thorpe where Wally Hess, Daniel Brohm and Justin Mazzella all made impressive debuts with picking up three wins and three subs on the evening. These three young men have great potential along with the character and integrity which we demand at RPFS and we are pleased and proud to welcome them as the newest members of the RPFS fight team!

COMBAT WRESTLING @ RPFS

Effective immediately the "Wrestling" program at RPFS has been completely revamped and transformed to better meet the needs and goals of our members and to better fit the hardcore, balls to the wall mold of our other programs and classes.
The class, which will henceforth be called RPFS’s "Combat Wrestling" will continue to take place on Thursday evenings at 7:15. The focus of the program, however, will be on the real world application of wrestling techniques, take downs and defenses for the mats, the ring and the cage. If you are looking to learn "spladles", "Petersons" or "tilts", this is not the wrestling program you are looking for. If, however, you are looking to improve your grappling game for wrestling, BJJ, or MMA, and/or if you have aspirations of competing under the RPFS banner, it is MANDATORY! Check it out and we are certain you won’t be disappointed!

"KING" ROBERTS GRABS ANOTHER CROWN!

On May 19, 2012 the man who has brought such pride, joy and leadership to the Rat Pack nation over the past eight years outdid himself once again. It took Joel Roberts only 4 minutes to dismantle and ultimately submit a very game and gracious James Cianci thus capturing his 5th win in a row (all five by submission in 2 rounds or less) and capture the PA Cage Fight Pro Bantamweight title. We at Rat Pack are honored and privileged to have Joel as such a huge part of our family. He is an inspiration to each and every one of us an no one works harder or deserves success more than him. At this point, as chanted by the packed house of RPFS friends and family after this last victory, there really is no where else for this kid to go other than the UFC and we will be working hard over the next several months in an effort to get him there. Stay tuned!

ROBERTS WINS AT BELLATOR

On September 10, 2011, Rat Pack's top gun Joel Roberts, once again proved the odds makers wrong with a second round submission via triangle choke of Philadelphia's  Brylan VanArtsdalen at Bellator Fighting Championship 49 at Caesar's in Atlantic City.

In what was considered "Fight of the Night" by many in attendance, Roberts defied 7-1 odds but bloodying his opponent in round 1 with vicious elbows before pulling of a beautiful upkick to triangle combination to put his opponent to sleep mid way through round 2.

The win brings Robert's pro record to 7-3 and caps off an undefeated 2011 which saw him go 4-0 with 4 submissions in only 10 months.

Once again, Joel provided the Rat Pack fans in attendance and watching at home via internet a night which none of us will soon forget. Look for Joel to return to the cage in early 2012.

 MARTINEZ WINS PRO DEBUT

Following an impressive amateur MMA career in which he amassed a record of 4-1, Brett "Youngblood" Martinez made his long awaited professional debut on September 17, 2011 at the Warrior Challenge in York, PA.

After his first two opponents back out of the fight, Brett, who was scheduled to fight at 145lbs agreed to take on a very tough Craig Odeair who was slated to make his debut that same evening at 160lbs!

By the time they entered the cage, Martinez was giving up approximately 15-20lbs to the much larger Odeair and the size difference was readily apparent when they entered the cage giving many of the Rat Pack crew on hand cause for concern.

Nevertheless, approximately 3 minutes into the first round Martinez put any concerns to rest by finishing his opponent after taking him down, getting back mount and raining down approximately 30 unanswered blows before the referee stopped the action.

Now 1-0 as a professional, Brett will again enter the Warrior Challenge Cage on November 4th, this time fighting at his real weight of 145lbs.

GMITTER WINS MMA DEBUT

When Sean Gmitter came to RPFS approximately a year ago, he came questioning whether he would ever be good enough to actually fight in the cage as part of the RPFS fight team.

Well a year and lots and lots of training hours later, on   2011, Sean silenced the critics and answered any questions, even his own, regarding his ability to fight with a devastating 2nd round TKO via body strikes against a game opponent at Cage Time 5 in Kingston, PA.

Rat Pack is proud to welcome Sean to the RPFS fight team and we look forward to his return to the cage in early November.

D-BOY DOES IT AGAIN, AND AGAIN,

AND AGAIN!

Following up a great 2010 which saw him take the Expert Teen 14-15yr old division at NAGA's Battle at the Beach and, 8 weeks later, the Expert 16-17 yr old title at the North American Championships, Dillon "D-Boy" Masington has continued his winning ways in 2011.

In June, D-boy took NAGA Virginia by storm winning both the teenage 16-17 Expert Division and the Adult Expert Division. In the adult division, D-boy bumped up 2 weight classes to face a former 4yr Division 1 wrestler who actually runs the summer camp which the Palmerton team attended a few weeks later.

Next, in   , D-Boy traveled to Southern NJ for "The Good Fight Tournament" where he, again, took the Adult Expert division at 140lbs (he weighed 125lbs) against a very talented opponent and seasoned opponent.

Finally, on October 8, 2011, D-Boy picked up his third consecutive Adult Expert title, and his third Championship Belt, at NAGA Maryland where he took the title 140lbs title (again weighing 125lbs) via ankle lock!
